About this project

The Virgin River Gorge Bridge #6 CMAR is located in the far northwest corner of Arizona on I-15 between Nevada and Utah.
The project team worked within a limited equipment staging area, on a bridge 100 feet above the river with 24,000 vehicles per day traveling through the work zone.
The work was the centerpiece of $50 million in upgrades to the 30 miles of I-15 that pass through Northwestern Arizona, ADOT said.
During the construction of the bridge 4,000 tons of earth were moved. In total crews poured 4,000 cubic yards of structural concrete and 3,600 tons of asphalt. About 4 million pounds of structural steel were used, and 910,000 pounds of reinforcing steel placed.
The project took 535 work days, with 57,368 man hours and no reported injuries.
